Egress Size Builders Series Hanging Brackets:
These Brackets are to be used with the Monarch Egress Size Builders series window. The brackets are not handed. They screw to the exterior side of the window jamb, flush to the exterior surface.

The brackets can be attached at any height on the window sides that has the bracket not passing the top or bottom of the window, though we recommend the top of the bracket 2” below the top of the window. The brackets must be even from side to side. To make attaching the brackets easier we recommend a 5” or longer Phillips driver in a drill. Use the #8 screws to attach the brackets. Be cautious not to spin the screw out in the vinyl frame. Screws are required in all holes to be sure that the window does not move when the concrete is poured. Note: Remember most building codes require the window opening be no more than 44 above the finished floor (bottom of window 42”).

Area Wall Mounting
Sizing Recommendations:
  • To meet egress, width and projection requirements must be considered. Common requirements are 36” for both width and projection.
  • Area wall height should be 3” above the grade line to 10” below the bottom of the window.
  • Note: If a grate or cover is to be used positioning and size of the well may change to comply with egress codes, and the operation of the window. This is extremly important if a casement window is used.
Mounting:
  • Add two inches to the area wall width dim for fastener spacing. Mark lines to center area wall in front of the window at this dim. The top holes should be at ground grade line and level. Additional holes should be spaced down every 10 11/16” of area wall height.
  • Drill and fasten per recommendations of the concrete anchoring system to be used.
  • Fill the bottom of the interior of the area wall with 4” pea gravel. For areas where water can be a problem, a deeper hole and drain may be required. Back fill around the area wall, evenly from side to side. Do not use large rocks or clods. Do not over pack or drive heavy equipment close to the wall.

Garden Step Area Wall Mounting
  • After the walls have been poured and the concrete forms stripped off. Determine the line that the top of the Area Wall should be at. Also determine the width lines for mounting screws. The spacing is 57”. The top hole is 5.5” below the position of the top area wall flange.
  • Attach the mounting bar marked “LEFT HAND” to the left side of the window opening and the one marked “RIGHT HAND” to the right side. Use 4 concrete anchors per bar. Note: Right hand and Left hand are from outside looking in.
  • Mount the Area Wall sections to the mounting bar. Starting at the bottom with the smallest Area Wall. The mounting holes and the walls have been color coded to match the color coded studs in the mounting bars.
  • Fill the interior of the bottom wall a few inches with pea gravel or similar material. Back fill the hole around the Area Walls evenly from side to side. Do not over pack or drive heavy equipment too close to the walls.
